EPIRB - Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon. The ACR GlobalFix iPRO 406 GPS Epirb is a must have safety device for anyone boating, cruising or fishing in a large lake or off the coast. The primary job for an EPIRB is to send a distress signal to the SAR (Search And Rescue) Satellite system. The ACR 2846 GlobalFix iPro 406 GPS EPIRB comes with the Sea Shelter3 Bracket which is a state-of-the-art, UV stabilized polymer bracket with hydrostatic release. This Catagory I bracket automatically releases the EPIRB when submerged in water between 1.5 - 4m (4.9' - 13.1'). The bonus with the iPro 406 is the built in GPS sensor. When a distress signal is sent, your LAT/LON position will transmit with the distress call creating a much smaller search area down to .05NM radius as compared to 2.3NM radius with a conventional EPIRB. The iPro 406 can also interface with an External GPS via NMEA 0183 to provide location prior to activation which ensures Lat/Lon transmission immediately.
The GlobalFix ipro also has an interactive digital display which indicates beacon transmission information, GPS position, battery power and self-test results. The Bright LED consumes less energy than a traditional strobe without sacraficing intensity. The iPro 406 EPIRB will transmit for a minimum of 48 hours at -20C degrees.
