With the addition of the GPSMAP 541 Garmin brings the 5” chartplotter up to date with the latest in marine features. They started by adding a high sensitivity internal antenna to the 541 chartplotter for the best possible reception. Add NMEA 2000 capability to the GPSMAP 541 for networking with other compatible NMEA 2K devices like marine engines, the Garmin GXM 51 satellite weather module, and other marine sensors. Most impressive is the new high speed processor in the Garmin 541 that provides fast chart redraws and smooth panning, allowing you to spend less time waiting for the chart to show and more time at your destination.
The GPS 541 is loaded with Garmin’s latest Bluechart G2 chart detail for the coastal United States and Great lakes, Alaska, Hawaii, and the Bahamas. The Garmin G2 information will include coastlines, shaded depth contours, navaids, port plans, wrecks, restricted areas, tides and current information. For even more detail the GPSMAP 541 is compatible with the optional Bluechart G2 Vision Cards. With the purchase of the G2 Vision Card, the mariner will be able to see “real world” photos of ports, harbors, marinas, waterways, navigational landmarks and other points of interest. The G2 Vision card also enables the mariner to view 3D perspectives above and below the waterline. Another new feature that Garmin has unveiled with the 541 is called Auto Guidance technology. This feature helps the user navigate with the best possible route.
The GPSMAP 541C also features audible alarms for anchor drag, arrival to a waypoint or destination, 10 proximity waypoints, off-course, and clock as well as low battery voltage. The Garmin 541 also has loads of memory for waypoints and tracks; storing up to 3,000 waypoints with name and graphical symbol and 10,000 track log points with room to save 50 tracks. If you want to save routes, the 541 can store 100 of them all reversible with up to 300 per route.
When connected with a DSC capable VHF radio, the GPSMAP 541 can graphically display the positioning data received from the radio. Other features include built in tide and celestial data, back up of user data on a data card, and a Housing that is waterproof to IPX-7 standards.
