Starting with the core features of the Nuvi 1690, it features a high sensitivity GPS receiver that provides unmatched satellite acquisition and tracking. The large, 4.3” touch screen display makes for easy viewing and simple operation. The Garmin 1690 has an internal Lithium-Ion battery providing power for up to 4 hours of use.
With Garmin nuLink! Services you know the local area, even if you’re from out of town. Accurate real-time information about the area you’re traveling in is delivered directly to nuvi 1690 via a built-in wireless module. The 1690 currently comes with a free 2-year Garmin nuLink! Subscription, which include services that can make every day more enjoyable.

Navteq detailed maps for the entire United States, Canada and Puerto Rico are already installed in the Nuvi 1690T. Simply enter your destination into the Garmin 1690, you can pick an exact address or one of the over 6 million points of interest, and you will give verbal turn-by-turn commands that speak the street names of your next turn. Lane Assist show you the lane you need to be in for your next maneuver and Junction View will even show you a realistic view of upcoming junctions on major highways with signage. If you miss your turn, the Nuvi 1690 will recalculate your route and get you right back on track. Need Fuel or Help? The Garmin “Where Am I?” function is built into the 1690 and will show you the closest Gas, Hospital, or Police Station as well as the closest intersection and street address to your current location.
The features don’t stop there, the Nuvi 1690 will show you posted speed limits for most major roads across the country. Garmin Connect Photos will let you add images to your favorite locations and also search Garmin’s database for other photos and positions of popular location.
