Color Display, FRS/GPS Handheld.
The Garmin Rino 520 HCx adds a sunlight viewable color display to the Garmin Rino GPS/FRS Radio Family. The color display measures 1.7”H x 1.3”W in size and a screen resolution of 220 x 176 with 256-colors. Garmin has also included a 12-Channel, high sensitivity, WAAS GPS antenna in the Rino 520 HCx, supplying accuracy down to 9 feet. The new high sensitivity antenna will enable the Rino 520HCx to lock on much faster and also perform in heavey foliage. The Rino 520HCx features both FRS and GMRS channels, providing 5 watts of transmit power on the GMRS channels for up to 12 miles of output range. The Rino 520HCx is pre-loaded with the Garmin Americas Recreational basemap that will give you map information such as major highways and interstates as well larger lakes and rivers. With its microSD card slot the Rino 520HCx is able to accept maps from most Garmin Mapsource products, including the US Topo and the 24k National Parks CD’s. As an added feature, the Garmin Rino 520HCx can provide on screen Turn-by-Turn directions to a specific address or point of interest with the addition of the Mapsource City Select North America. The Rino 520HCx also includes storage for 500 waypoints with name and symbol as well as 10,000 track log points and room for 50 Rino contacts (other Garmin Rino radio users).
FRS/GMRS Radio
Like the rest of the Garmin Rino Family, the 520HCx features a .5-watt FRS radio with 15 FRS channels for up to a 2-mile communication range. Exclusive to the Garmin Rino 520HCx and 530 is a 5-watt GMRS* radio for a huge 12-mile communication range and 8 available channels. All 23 Rino channels are each equipped with 38 squelch codes for semi private communications. With Garmin’s patented position reporting, the Rino 520HCx is able to transmit your location to other Rino users as well as keep track of any other Rino users within the range of your FRS/GMRS* radio. The Contact Assembly feature allows you and your contacts to transmit and navigate to the same destination.
The Garmin Rino 520HCx includes external temperature reporting as well as external Voice Activation(VOX). Other features include Audible alarms, Trip Computer page, Celestial data with Best Fish/Hunt times and vibration mode for silent calls. Unit size: 7.5"H x 2.3"W x 1.8"D.
