Chad McCumbee Brings Home Top-20 at AMS.
Chad McCumbee headed to Atlanta Motor Speedway (GA) with the hopes of getting his season back on track in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, and for the most part that is exactly what the team did. The team had a solid qualifying effort, starting in the 15th position and they were fast in the practices held for the event. As soon as the green flag dropped Chad mounted a charge toward the front of the field racing solidly in the top 10 for the first half of the race. Bad luck struck during the race after a pit stop when another competitor made contact with the No. 08 Chevy, putting Chad into the wall and bringing out the caution. After coming to the pits for repairs several times, the Green Light Racing team was able to get Chad back up and running where he quickly went to work again getting back on the lead lap and in the end they had to settle for an 18th place finish.
“We didn’t get the finish that I think we deserved at Atlanta," said McCumbee. "But obviously our team is headed in a great direction. I think that we showed everybody that we were really good all night long. I think we had a shot at top-five. I am really proud of how the guys did, they really got theGPSstore.com / Garmin Chevrolet pointed in the right direction. Hopefully it is a sign of good things to come.”
The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is off next week and won’t be running again until the March 31st event at Martinsville Speedway. However, Chad will be in a racecar this weekend as he heads down to USA International Speedway to take part in the ARCA RE/MAX Series event on Saturday March 24th.
