McCumbee Looking Forward to Atlanta

With four races to go in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season, Chad McCumbee and his Green Light Racing team are still stalking that elusive first win going into the EasyCare Vehicle Service Contracts 200 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Time is of the essence for the driver behind the No. 08 The GPS Store/Garmin International Chevrolet. After a successful summer, which boosted him nine points positions over three months, the autumn has not been kind to McCumbee. Plagued with mechanical problems, The GPS Store team's best finish in the past five races has been 20th. Last weekend at Martinsville, McCumbee's streak of bad luck culminated with a controversial two-lap penalty after contact with the No. 25 truck of Damon Lusk. NASCAR's version of the incident placed the #08 team back in traffic all day with no chance at a top-ten finish.

Fortunately, Atlanta provides yet another chance for a fresh start. A 1.5-mile oval, AMS bears resemblance to the intermediate tracks that McCumbee has excelled on this season. While he finished 27th during his first start at the track back in April, McCumbee has pulled off two top-ten finishes at intermediate tracks since then, a 9th at Texas and a career-best 7th at Nashville. It seems that Atlanta could be a good place for McCumbee to turn things around for the rest of the season…with a little luck on his side, of course.

"We have been very good on the mile and a half tracks and were really fast at our test in Chicago last week, so I really looking forward to Atlanta this weekend", said McCumbee. Gene Christensen, co-owner of Green Light Racing, said "We are taking the same truck that Chad earned two top 10's with earlier this season, so I look for us to get back to running up front".

Qualifying for the EasyCare 200 is set for 1:15 p.m. ET Saturday, with the race following at 5:15 p.m. ET. The race broadcast begins with the pre-race show at 4:30 p.m. ET on SPEED.
