Stay connected with up to 50 of your friends and send preset notes from your Edge to another Edge user with the LiveTrack and Rider to Rider feature. Keeping safety in mind, Garmin has built the Edge 840 with the ability to pair to Garmin’s Varia line of cycling awareness devices such as a rearview radar and smart bike lights. When paired with your 840 Edge, the Varia radar (sold separately) displays alerts for approaching cars from behind and if an incident occurs, the Edge can automatically send your location to an emergency contact in the event of an emergency. Real-time stamina gives riders insight on their rides to see just how long they can continue training and riding. Daily suggested workouts with targeted adaptive coaching will show riders training prompts on the Edge 840 that pertain specifically to your current training loads, recovery rates, and upcoming events. While you ride, you will see remaining ascent and grades while you climb so you can gauge your efforts and view through the Garmin Connect app on your compatible smartphone for future ride planning.
